A man identified as Kelly Marcucci, a Long Island resident, has been charged with interference with a professional sporting event and trespassing after running onto the field at Yankee Stadium during a game commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The incident occurred in the seventh inning of the New York Yankees' 6-4 victory over the New York Mets on Friday.
Marcucci, 38, wore a jersey with the phrase 'No Kings' emblazoned on the front. During his field intrusion, he carried a Palestinian flag and was apprehended by security amidst chants of 'USA! USA!' from the crowd.
According to reports, prior to the game, Marcucci posted on his Facebook page, expressing criticism of President Donald Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan, and discussing what he described as the "evils of capitalism" and Saudi Arabia's alleged involvement in the 9/11 attacks. The post has since been deactivated.
Investigators verified a deactivated OnlyFans account linked to Marcucci. The profile picture showed him shirtless, with a tattoo on his biceps that matched one visible on his arm during the stadium incident. His OnlyFans bio stated he identifies as a "revisionist-Marxist" and is passionate about "social equality."
The interruption took place during a game marked by solemn tributes to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. The Yankees held a pregame ceremony that included members of their 2001 World Series championship team, such as Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, and Mariano Rivera, alongside manager Joe Torre. They participated in the presentation of colors with members of law enforcement and first responder agencies, while a large American flag was unfurled across the outfield.
Earlier in the day, current Yankees captain Aaron Judge and pitcher Gerrit Cole joined Jeter in laying a wreath at the 9/11 monument in Monument Park at the stadium.
