A California man died from a traumatic brain injury sustained at the Vans Warped Tour festival in Long Beach, prompting his family to seek answers and information regarding the incident. David Granado Jr. was reportedly injured during the festival on Sunday, July 26.
Granado attended the event with his brother, Alejandro Granado, but they separated to watch different bands. Alejandro stated that approximately 90 minutes after they parted ways, David was admitted to a local emergency room. According to information Alejandro gathered from other attendees, David reportedly walked himself to a medical tent before being transported to the hospital.
Doctors determined that David had suffered a severe brain injury, and he underwent multiple surgeries. The exact circumstances surrounding how David was injured remain unclear and have not been publicly confirmed.
The family has also raised concerns about what they described as a lack of communication from the festival organizers. Alejandro Granado posted online that he emailed the festival the night his brother was admitted to the emergency room but had not received a response for four days. He also claimed that David's emergency contact was not notified when he arrived at the medical tent or when he was taken to the hospital.
Alejandro later announced his brother's death and urged anyone with information about what happened to come forward. As of Friday evening, festival organizers had not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
