The family of Beau Croucher, a 14-year-old boy who died after being hit by a bus, has released a heartfelt tribute to their son.

Beau was struck by a bus on a busy street in Portsmouth on Monday evening. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. The driver of the bus, a 39-year-old man from Portsmouth, was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail, with his next appearance scheduled for November 17.

In a statement released through Hampshire Police, Beau's family described him as their "absolute world" and stated that he "brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him." They expressed the profound grief they are experiencing, noting that their "hearts are broken in a way we didn't know a heart could break."

Mourners have left floral tributes at the scene of the incident.

The family recalled Beau's intelligence, which they said astounded them, and his effortless humor. They stated that knowing Beau was a privilege and that he possessed a unique ability to make people laugh. He was described as being in top sets at school and enjoying time with his friends, happiest when surrounded by loved ones.

Beau was also a devoted fan of Portsmouth FC, with his favorite activity being attending matches at Fratton Park with his father and grandfather. His family likened him to sunshine, noting his strong light and how he always stood out in a crowd, adding, "It's like we were blessed with an angel."

The family conveyed their deep love for Beau and the profound emptiness his absence has created. They also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, messages, and comfort they have received from friends and family during this difficult time.
