Residents in the rural community of Capelulo, located in Conwy county, have been advised to evacuate their homes as a wildfire continues to spread on Conwy Mountain and the Sychnant Pass. Firefighters have been working to contain the blaze, which ignited Sunday morning.

Penmaenmawr town council issued a precautionary evacuation advisory for householders in Capelulo, specifically those near the Fairy Glen public house. The council stated on Facebook that residents should "leave safely and follow the instructions of the emergency services on scene" due to smoke being carried by the wind. The Gladstone Inn has been designated as a place of safety for those who have evacuated or cannot return to their homes.

The Conwy Old Road in Dwygyfylchi has been closed as a result of the wildfire. North Wales Police have advised other residents in the vicinity to "keep all doors and windows closed for the time being" to mitigate the impact of smoke.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were alerted to the fire in the early hours of Sunday. The fire has generated widespread smoke, prompting the evacuation advisory as a precautionary measure.
