Ethan Hawke was accompanied by his wife, Ryan Shawhughes, and their 15-year-old daughter, Indiana, for a rare family appearance at the Deauville American Film Festival in France on Friday. The actor was honored at the event, where his upcoming film, "The Weight," was also scheduled to premiere.

Indiana Hawke wore a bohemian-style white dress with a pink shawl and gold purse. Shawhughes donned a sheer black dress, complementing Hawke's all-black suit. The couple, married since 2008, also have a 18-year-old daughter, Clementine Jane. Both daughters have largely been kept out of the public eye but have occasionally joined their father at events.

Maya Hawke, 28, and Levon Roan, 24, are Hawke's children from his previous marriage to Uma Thurman, whom he was married to from 1998 to 2005. Hawke has generally kept his personal life private since his divorce from Thurman. He previously described the divorce as "humiliating" in a 2025 interview with GQ, and in a November 2025 conversation with The New York Times, he spoke about the challenges of divorce, particularly for families.

"The public eye is like gasoline, but what makes divorce hard is the stuff that makes it hard for everyone — the family elements, how to help the kids through it," Hawke said at the time, adding that he had vowed not to discuss it further with his children. He also shared that initially after his split, he intended to remain single but found a connection with Shawhughes, whom he described as his "best friend."
