Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently shared a shirtless photograph on X, formerly Twitter, in which he is holding a large cucumber and a red bell pepper. The post aimed to promote healthy eating and highlight his personal wellness journey.

Adams, 65, stated in the post that he has never been in better shape. He detailed how a near-vision loss due to diabetes motivated him to change his diet and lifestyle. He also mentioned a friendly competition with his 29-year-old son, Jordan Coleman, to see who can be in the best shape by their upcoming Virgo birthdays, attributing his potential success to "VEGGIES."

"This photo isn’t about showing off (okay, maybe a little bit of that too). It’s about showing what’s possible when you take control of your health. Eat your vegetables!" Adams wrote in his post.

The social media post generated a wide range of responses. Some users offered praise for Adams' physique, while others reacted with humor and lighthearted criticism. Former Congressman George Santos and activist Nomiki Konst were among those who commented on the photo.

Todd Shapiro, a spokesperson for Adams, told The Post that while the photo might invite laughter, it represents a serious message about health, discipline, and making positive life changes. Shapiro credited Adams' commitment to a plant-based diet and lifestyle transformation with helping him reverse his Type 2 diabetes. Shapiro also noted that Adams is proud of his current physical condition and suggested that being called "too fit after 60" is a criticism Adams would gladly accept.
