Enes Kanter Freedom has stated his ambition to play in the WNBA, specifically hoping to be drafted by the Indiana Fever in 2027. Freedom believes he and WNBA star Caitlin Clark could form a partnership he described as the "modern-day Shaq and Kobe."

During a recent appearance on Fox News, Freedom declared his intention to be the "best draft pick the WNBA has ever seen" and set a goal of breaking Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point record. He stated his intent to achieve this by "dunking everything in the name of equality."

Freedom's aspirations come as he is reportedly planning to sue the Chicago Sky. He claims mistreatment following his ejection from a WNBA game against the Fever. Freedom addressed criticism he has faced, stating, "People are mad at me. People are calling me a misogynist... I’m simply following the rules. If they want to come out and change the rules, I will gladly be the first one to follow."

Over the past month, Freedom has faced backlash after announcing his declaration for the WNBA draft as a transgender player. Reports indicate the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement does not define "women" nor specify rules regarding biological sex, hormone levels, or physical attributes, which Freedom believes makes him eligible for the league.

This move has drawn criticism from current WNBA players, including Cameron Brink of the Los Angeles Sparks, who reportedly called Freedom a "stupid piece of s—t." Brink suggested that because the WNBA has no openly transgender players, Freedom is creating an issue out of a "non-issue." Former NBA player Patrick Beverley also commented on Freedom's WNBA aspirations, viewing the decision as a "stunt."
