Former “Saturday Night Live” star Ego Nwodim offered a subtle response to comedian Shane Gillis' controversial monologue, which aired over the weekend. Gillis' remarks, which focused on women's gym attire, drew criticism.

During his monologue, Gillis commented, "I haven’t been to the gym in so long ― I didn’t know women just dress like whores now.” He continued, “The shorts? Have you seen the shorts? They’re neon, like, artificial bait-colored... And the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don’t look ― you’re not allowed to look. For real, don’t look, because they are filming. I’m in the background of like 10 TikToks right now.”

Nwodim responded on Monday by sharing a gym selfie on Instagram with the caption, “whore reporting for duty.” She further addressed Gillis' jokes by posting a photo of her post-gym meal, writing, “Getting my 30 grams of protein in after heauxing.”

Ego Nwodim as Miss Eggy, who would have a lot to say about Gillis’ appearance.

Criticism of Gillis' monologue began on Monday with “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy. Levy posted a video stating that “men need to be defending women more.” He added, “Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists... There’s a difference there. By the way, I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve seen women showing their bodies off.” Levy concluded, “But I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it, because it’s complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it’s a ‘conversation’ as opposed to a ‘crime.’”

Gillis has a history with “SNL.” He was hired as a cast member in 2019 but was fired days later after past remarks using anti-LGBTQ+ language and mocking Asian people resurfaced. He has since hosted the show three times.
