The Philadelphia Eagles' social media team has drawn significant criticism for posting a training camp video that captured quarterback Jalen Hurts throwing an interception. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, showed Hurts' pass intended for newly acquired wide receiver Marquise Brown being intercepted by cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.
The post, captioned "Right on Q," was intended to highlight Mitchell's play. However, it quickly went viral, attracting negative attention from fans and NFL analysts. The video amassed over 8.3 million views in just over six hours, with many users questioning the decision to showcase the starting quarterback's mistake.
"Putting your starting QB on blast when there are already rumblings he [can’t] use the middle of the field is a choice," commented former oddsmaker Todd Fuhrman on X. Former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho suggested that while he wouldn't guarantee anyone would be fired, "somebody getting cussed out for sure and then may get fired" given the efforts typically made to protect Hurts.
Fans also voiced their disapproval. "Your qb throwing a pick is the post? lol," one user wrote. Another commented, "Putting out a video of your QB1 throwing a pick is wild." Some users drew comparisons to other quarterbacks, noting that a similar interception by Josh Allen during practice the previous day received significantly less attention.
The controversy comes as the Eagles' offense is undergoing adjustments. Hurts is working with his sixth offensive coordinator in his seventh NFL season, with Sean Mannion now serving as offensive coordinator. Last season, Hurts recorded six interceptions and passed for 3,224 yards, finishing 16th in the league. He also faced challenges with offensive consistency and alignment with head coach Nick Sirianni and former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Injuries have also impacted the team's receiving corps, with top options DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon dealing with health issues. The team finished the 2025 season with an 11-6 record, culminating in a wild-card round loss to the 49ers.
