Filming for the second season of the Paramount+ series "Dutton Ranch" is slated to begin in early 2027, with new episodes potentially airing later that year. Benjamin Cavell has been named the new showrunner, taking over from Chad Feehan, who departed the series weeks before its premiere.
The renewal for "Dutton Ranch" Season 2 was officially announced by Paramount+ on June 24, ahead of the airing of the show's eighth episode. The series has proven to be a significant success for the streaming platform, marking the biggest Original Series launch in Paramount+ history with 12.9 million global viewers within seven days of its premiere. Its debut on Paramount Network on May 15 also garnered 2.9 million total viewers, making it the most-watched series premiere on cable since 2023.
Season 1 of "Dutton Ranch" consisted of nine episodes, with the season finale, "El Padrino," airing on Friday, July 3. The show concluded with a cliffhanger that left a beloved character in danger, alongside other unresolved plotlines, fueling anticipation for the next season.
Details regarding the plot for Season 2 remain under wraps, but cast members Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser indicated their involvement in the writing process, which is expected to begin soon. "We’re slated to start early 2027 to film," Reilly confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the writing room would convene shortly thereafter. "I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it."
Speculation about a potential crossover event between "Dutton Ranch" and "Marshals," another Yellowstone universe series, has emerged following similar cliffhangers in both season finales. Both shows concluded with young male characters in peril, prompting questions about whether this was a planned narrative for future seasons. Reilly responded ambiguously when asked about the possibility, stating, "Maybe."
Fans can rewatch "Dutton Ranch" Season 1 on Paramount+, which offers both Essential and Premium subscription plans. The series is also available for add-on to Amazon or Hulu accounts and through Sling TV packages.
