Paramount+ has officially renewed the Western drama “Dutton Ranch” for a second season. While a premiere date has not yet been set, filming is slated to begin in early 2027. The series will also see a change in showrunner, with Benjamin Cavell taking over from Chad Feehan, who departed the series prior to its premiere.

Season 1 of “Dutton Ranch” concluded on July 3 with its ninth episode, titled “El Padrino.” The season finale featured the return of Joaquin’s father, Mariano, and ended on a cliffhanger with Carter being kidnapped by a cartel. With numerous plot threads left unresolved, including whether Beth and Rip will rescue Carter and the potential for a crossover with the “Marshals” spin-off, fans are eager for answers.

“Dutton Ranch” proved to be a significant success for Paramount+, launching as the biggest Original Series premiere in the platform's history with 12.9 million global viewers in its first week. On Paramount Network, its two-episode debut on May 15 garnered 2.9 million total viewers, marking the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023.

Despite the success, the series will have a new showrunner for its upcoming season. Benjamin Cavell will take the reins, while Chad Feehan departed the series approximately three weeks before its premiere. Details regarding Cavell's vision for Season 2 remain under wraps.

Actor Ed Harris, who plays Everett, has confirmed he is contracted for two seasons and will return. However, Harris expressed some dissatisfaction with his character’s storyline in Season 1, feeling “misled” about his role and that his character was underutilized. He stated he was told he would have a more significant part in the next season.

Viewers can rewatch Season 1 of “Dutton Ranch” on Paramount+. The streaming service offers two plans: Essential, which is ad-supported and costs $8.99 per month, and Premium, which is ad-free and includes Showtime titles and live CBS for $13.99 per month. Both plans offer a seven-day free trial for the Premium option. Paramount+ can also be accessed through Amazon, Hulu, or Sling TV.
