Dua Lipa and Callum Turner made a stylish appearance at the Metropolitan Opera's opening night gala in New York City on Monday. The couple attended the performance of "Lincoln in the Bardo," a play adapted from George Saunders' 2017 novel.
Lipa, 31, wore a striking black Ferragamo gown from the Spring 2027 collection, featuring paillettes, a side slit, and off-the-shoulder sleeves. She paired the dress with Ferragamo heels and wore her hair slicked back. Turner, 36, opted for a classic black suit. The pair held hands as they arrived at the event.
"Lincoln in the Bardo" unfolds over one night, exploring President Lincoln's grief over the loss of his son, Willie. Lipa, who has previously attended opera galas in Milan, shared her appreciation for the art form.
"Opera really just touches on all our human emotions, you know, love and grief and loss and ambition and hope and all these things that make it so special," Lipa said. "So I think it's just about surrendering and I love that."
Other notable attendees at the gala included Amy Poehler, Bowen Yang, Andrew Nixon, and Kate Walsh.
Lipa and Turner, who married in May, have been photographed together in New York, including a recent dog walk with their Rottweiler-Labrador mix, Golo. Lipa described their wedding day as "magical" and emphasized the importance of staying connected throughout the celebration.
She also discussed balancing her career and personal life, noting her partner's shared work ethic. "I've never put my ambition aside, and I'm fortunate to be with someone who loves working as much as I do. We understand and support each other," she stated. Lipa also shared that her current happiness might influence her songwriting, moving from heartbreak-inspired themes to exploring the complexities of a loving relationship.
Turner recently spoke about his desire to start a family, telling Esquire UK that he would like to have children in the next decade. He also expressed his joy in his marriage, calling his wedding day "the most beautiful day of my life."
