Gustavo Gordillo, the 38-year-old co-chair of the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), resides in a $1.5 million Brooklyn home purchased by his parents, according to reports. Gordillo has been a vocal critic of wealth accumulation and private property ownership, advocating for land redistribution.

The home, located in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood, is a nearly 2,000-square-foot row house. Property records indicate that Gordillo's parents acquired the property in 2019 through a limited liability company, Chucuito LLC, for just under $1 million. Since the purchase, the house has undergone significant renovations, including updates to its facade, landscaping, interior, and the addition of decks.

Gordillo's father confirmed that Gustavo and his brother both reside in the Brooklyn property. The father also stated that the LLC purchased the home and subsequently handled the renovations.

Prior to the Brooklyn residence, Gordillo's parents reportedly rented an apartment for him on the Lower East Side for $2,600 per month through the same LLC between 2016 and 2019. Gordillo previously worked at an art gallery and later pursued a career as an electrician, joining IBEW Local 3 in 2019. However, records do not indicate he completed the journeyman process, and he has since stopped identifying as an IBEW member, telling The New York Times earlier this year that he was no longer an electrician. His current source of income remains unclear.

Gordillo, a Yale University graduate, has publicly expressed anti-capitalist views. He has been quoted advocating for a redistribution of land "from landowners to the landless" and has criticized landlords, stating that "we don’t think that anybody should have the constitutional right to double-digit returns on their investment."

Gordillo's parents, immigrants from Peru, have achieved financial success in the United States. They own a substantial home in Boca Raton, Florida, currently listed for $3.1 million, and another home in Weston, Florida, valued at $3 million. Gordillo's father is the founder of Draftpros Inc., an engineering and consulting firm.

Local renters have called Gordillo a hypocrite, with one resident stating, "It’s a rich kid. That’s basically people who don’t have to deal with the struggles we have to deal with."
