Convicted drunk driver Jamie Komoroski, who killed a newlywed bride in a 2023 crash, can be heard in newly released police bodycam footage urging officers to check on the victim, Samantha Hutchinson.

Komoroski, then 25, was driving 65 mph when she struck the golf cart carrying Hutchinson, 34, and her husband, Aric Hutchinson, just minutes after their wedding reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina. Hutchinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the footage, Komoroski is heard asking bystanders about Hutchinson's condition before saying, “Go check on her,” as an officer surveyed the wreckage. Komoroski's car had deployed its airbags and was seen billowing smoke.

Komoroski was convicted in 2024 of reckless homicide and driving under the influence. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty.

Bodycam footage also shows Komoroski being uncooperative with officers after the crash. When asked to rate her level of intoxication on a scale of 1 to 10, she requested a lawyer. She also asked to call her father, a request that was denied.

During her time at the police station, Komoroski continued to express frustration, stating, “I just, like, want to get it over with and go home.” She claimed that she had the right to a phone call, despite being in protective custody. She also refused to provide a breath sample, demanding officers “prove” the DUI allegations.

Komoroski's blood alcohol content was later found to be 0.261%, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 in South Carolina. She had reportedly spent an hour drinking at bars before the crash.

During the trial, Aric Hutchinson testified about his grief, telling the court, “I wish I had gone that night, so she didn’t have to go alone.” He added, “I am stuck in hell. I think about that night every single day and the last moments that I had with Sam on the golf cart.”

Komoroski offered an apology to the victim's family, stating she would “always be devastated” and “deeply ashamed” of her actions.
