A driver rammed a car into the security gate of the FBI's Pittsburgh field office early Wednesday, draped an American flag over the gate, and fled the scene, authorities said. The FBI described the incident as a targeted attack against the bureau and said no personnel were injured.

The crash occurred at about 2:40 a.m., when the vehicle struck the gate and damaged security infrastructure around the entrance. Investigators, including a bomb squad, remained at the scene as authorities searched for the driver, the FBI said. The driver removed the flag from the back seat and threw it over the gate before leaving, according to the FBI statement.

Christopher Giordano, assistant special agent in charge at the FBI in Pittsburgh, told reporters the car appeared to bear some sort of message on one of the side windows. He said the agency was familiar with the driver, noting that the man had visited the FBI field office a few weeks earlier to file a complaint that did not appear to make sense.

No FBI personnel were injured, and there was no immediate information about a motive. Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing nearby areas as they search for the driver. The investigation remains active, and authorities said they would provide updates as information becomes available.
