Driver in Fatal LA Metro Crash Remains Hospitalized, Skips Court Date
Bailee Lynn Rios, facing murder charges in connection with the collision that killed two, was unable to attend her court appearance due to hospitalization.
The driver accused of causing a deadly Los Angeles Metro bus crash that also led to a fatal helicopter accident remained hospitalized and missed her scheduled court appearance on Thursday. Bailee Lynn Rios, 36, of Simi Valley, was due in Los Angeles Superior Court but could not attend.
Rios is alleged to have crashed her SUV into a Metro bus at high speed on Tuesday. The collision embedded her vehicle into the bus, resulting in the deaths of two passengers and serious injuries to Rios and several others. She is facing murder charges, and her bail has been set at $4.03 million.
The crash also triggered a secondary tragedy when an NBC News helicopter, responding to the scene, crashed nearby, killing three people. The circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash are being investigated separately.
