NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s recent public urging for LeBron James to announce his free agency decision may inadvertently cause the superstar to take longer to make up his mind, according to former teammate Draymond Green.

Silver, speaking at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, directly addressed James, stating that a prompt decision was important for the NBA's scheduling, particularly for opening week and Christmas Day games. However, Green, on his podcast "The Draymond Green Show," posited that such a public statement could have the opposite of the intended effect.

"Adam saying that is not going to speed up LeBron’s decision at all," Green stated. "If I know Bron well, if anything, it may slow his decision down a little more because that’s just how Bron is."

Green expressed his belief that James' decision is likely to come sooner rather than later, despite the potential for it to be delayed by Silver's comments. James himself, when prompted by NBA player Tyrese Haliburton during a live podcast recording at Fanatics Fest, indicated that "We don’t have an announcement to make just yet."

James' longtime agent, Rich Paul, also commented on the situation during his podcast "Game Over" with co-host Max Kellerman. Paul reiterated that James is taking his time to weigh his options, characterizing the decision as a "business decision." He also confirmed speaking with Silver after the commissioner's public remarks, reaffirming that the decision rests solely with James and that he would not be rushed.

Speculation about James' future has been ongoing, with NBA insider Shams Charania reporting that there is no set timetable for his announcement. Charania has identified the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers as potential favorites, with Green's Golden State Warriors also reportedly in contention for James' services.
