Country music superstar Dolly Parton has officially opened her first "Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop" in Cornersville, Tennessee, a move that positions her as a competitor in the burgeoning travel stop market, notably challenging established players like Buc-ee's. The expansive new location, situated about an hour south of Nashville, aims to be a comprehensive destination for travelers.

Parton described the venture as born from her extensive experience on the road, stating, "All the years spent visiting greasy spoon cafés, truck stops and roadside pit stops have given me an understanding of what travelers desire on the road." The Cornersville stop offers a full-service restaurant named Refuel & Relax, a coffee shop called Dolly's Cup of Ambition, and a market featuring baked goods and ice cream. Visitors can also find exclusive Dolly Parton merchandise and a replica of her tour bus.

Entertainment and Amenities

The travel stop is designed with entertainment in mind, featuring a permanent stage and upstairs patio for live music performances. Outdoor fire pits are also available for guests to relax. For travelers with pets, the "Doggy Parton Dog Park" provides a space for animals to stretch their legs. Recognizing the needs of long-haul truckers, the facility includes dedicated overnight parking, private showers, laundry facilities, and a drivers' lounge. The stop also accommodates modern travel needs with both traditional gasoline pumps and electric vehicle charging stations.

Expansion Plans

This Cornersville location is intended to serve as the flagship for a potential nationwide chain of Dolly-themed travel centers, with expansion planned over the coming months. The company views this as a significant step into a rapidly growing retail sector, directly competing with brands like Texas-based Buc-ee's, which has gained a significant following for its large stores and unique offerings.

Parton's venture into travel stops adds to her diverse business portfolio, which includes the Dollywood theme park, hotels, restaurants, and various branded consumer products. The opening event in Tennessee featured Parton cutting a ceremonial ribbon and greeting fans, signaling her active involvement in the new enterprise.
