Disneyland is set to celebrate the United States' 250th anniversary with a patriotic re-imagining of its popular Soarin' attraction. Titled 'Soarin' Across America,' the updated ride will debut at Disney California Adventure on July 2 as part of Disney Celebrates America, a broader company-wide initiative.

The attraction, which simulates a hang-gliding flight before a dome screen, was originally introduced as 'Soarin' Over California' in 2001 and later re-themed to 'Soarin' Around the World' in 2016. The new iteration aims to showcase a variety of American landscapes and landmarks.

Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Executive Creative Director Tom Fitzgerald explained that the selection process for the featured locations focused on creating a "portrait of America." Iconic sites such as Washington, D.C., the Statue of Liberty, and Mount Rushmore are expected to be included, along with representations of diverse American scenery like the New England coast, a southern bayou, and open plains. Fitzgerald expressed hope that the experience will remind visitors "how special this place is."

In addition to the updated ride, Disneyland's Disney Celebrates America commemoration will include special flag retreat ceremonies honoring veterans, themed decor, the return of the 'Celebrate America!' fireworks spectacular, military band performances, and a celebratory cavalcade.
