Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, 23, has been arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping and robbery that occurred in Tampa, Florida, in February. The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office announced that Arnold faces multiple felony charges, each carrying a potential sentence of life in prison. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Thursday, with prosecutors intending to file a motion to detain him pending trial.
Prosecutors allege that Arnold coordinated and directed co-defendants to lure three men to an apartment. According to state attorneys, the victims were subsequently robbed, beaten, and held at gunpoint. The alleged motive stemmed from Arnold's belief that the victims had stolen more than $200,000 worth of his personal items from his AirBNB property. However, investigators found no evidence to support the claim that the alleged victims were involved in the theft.
State Attorney Suzy Lopez stated, "No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation." She added that the arrest is the culmination of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and her office. Lopez affirmed that the state will pursue justice for the three victims by holding all involved parties accountable.
Arnold is accused of orchestrating the alleged crime just hours after reporting the missing items to the Largo Police Department. His co-defendants, Boakai Hilton, Lyndell Hudson, Freddie Lee Hughes III, and Christion Williams, are also in custody. Two other individuals, Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, have pleaded guilty to their roles in the incident. Randazzo received a sentence of four years in prison followed by six years of probation, while Del Valle entered an open plea, with sentencing to be determined later.
The Detroit Lions have been approached for comment regarding the arrest.
