Denise Welch, 68, has been seen enjoying a sun-drenched holiday in a plunging black swimsuit, shortly after announcing her departure from the ITV show Loose Women. The former Coronation Street star stepped down from her role to focus on acting opportunities that have recently come her way.
Welch shared several photographs on Instagram during her vacation, showcasing her figure in the stylish one-piece. She paired the swimsuit with burgundy wedge sandals and dark sunglasses. In one post, she humorously remarked on being filmed by her husband, Lincoln Townley, while relaxing, captioning it: "Snapped completely by surprise by @lincolntownley while trying to relax on our summer swansong vacation! Swimsuit and husband: models own."
Her holiday follows her announcement weeks ago that she was leaving Loose Women after nearly 25 years. Welch first appeared on the show in 2000, taking a seven-year break before returning in 2018. Her final appearance was on June 29.
In a video shared on Instagram, Welch explained her decision to leave was to pursue acting, which she described as her "first love." She stated that she has been receiving "wonderful opportunities" and intends to "grab them by the you know whats and run with it for this new chapter of my life."
She expressed gratitude for her time on the show, thanking those who shared their stories with her. Welch acknowledged her polarizing public image, stating she is "very Marmite," but cherishes all comments received over the years. She assured viewers she would remain friends with her "happy band of campers" colleagues.
Fellow Loose Women stars and fans responded positively to her holiday photos and departure announcement. A spokesperson for Loose Women confirmed Welch's departure, stating she has been a "brilliant part of the Loose Women family" and will be "hugely missed," sending her best wishes for her future endeavors.
Welch has recently appeared in the Channel 4 drama Tip Toe and is slated to star in an adaptation of Graham Norton's novel, Forever Home.
