CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten has pointed to a potential historical surge in the midterm election results, suggesting a Democratic "bluenami" could deliver the largest gain in House seats for the party since 1974, a period marked by the Watergate scandal and President Richard Nixon's resignation.

Enten stated that Democrats could potentially win 263 House seats, which would represent a gain of nearly 50 seats from their current 215. He noted this potential outcome would be one of the most significant seat gains for the party in the House of Representatives since the post-Watergate midterms.

While the 263-seat figure is a projection based on races currently led by Democrats and not all ballots have been finalized, Enten highlighted that it indicates substantial growth for the party in the House. The midterm elections of 1974 saw Democrats net 49 House seats following the national shockwaves of the Watergate scandal.
