A leading official with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has articulated a series of the group's policy goals, which include the abolition of prisons, borders, and the U.S. Senate. Megan Romer, national co-chair of the DSA, outlined these positions during a segment on Fox News where she was asked to confirm or deny various proposals.

Romer affirmed that the DSA supports abolishing the Senate, a stance detailed in the group's recent "Workers Deserve More" manifesto. This manifesto also calls for scrapping the executive branch and the Electoral College to dismantle the two-party system. The DSA's proposals suggest a shift towards a parliamentary-style system, where the House of Representatives would select a prime minister and members of the Supreme Court. The group advocates for ranked-choice voting in all elections, arguing that the House is more democratic than the Senate due to its proportional representation based on population.

During the Fox News interview, Romer also responded 'true' to questions about abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), defunding the Pentagon, and implementing government ownership of large corporations. She stated that abolishing prisons is part of a long-term program for the organization.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a prominent member of the DSA, has promoted initiatives such as city-owned grocery stores, increased rent-stabilized housing, and higher taxes on wealthy New Yorkers. However, Mamdani has previously sought to distinguish his platform from some of the DSA's more far-reaching objectives, asserting last year that his policies do not align with the national DSA agenda. Despite these distinctions, Mamdani has identified the DSA as his "political home" and a "proud" affiliation. He had previously broken with the group over endorsements in Democratic Party primaries for congressional seats.
