Authorities discovered a man's decomposed body inside a Staten Island home on Housman Avenue near Richmond Terrace in Port Richmond after responding to a 911 call about a foul odor. The discovery was made shortly after noon, according to police and law enforcement sources.

The unidentified man was found in a state of significant decomposition within the multi-family dwelling. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is pending determination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The incident follows two other discoveries of human remains in New York City in recent days. On Wednesday, skeletal remains were found in a vacant brownstone on East 115th Street in East Harlem. A forensic examination is underway to confirm the identity of those remains.

Last week, Jose Rivera, 53, was arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse. His arrest stemmed from the discovery of a body in his Brooklyn apartment on Union Street near Utica Avenue. The body was so decomposed that the medical examiner's office had not yet determined the cause of death, according to a criminal complaint.
