Antoinette Forbes, a 53-year-old Washington, D.C. resident, has been reported missing under critical circumstances, with her home on Nebraska Avenue NW being treated as an active crime scene by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Forbes was last seen on Friday afternoon. Her sister, Aileen Forbes, expressed immediate concern after family friends, who entered the home with a key, found Forbes' dog, Max, alone indoors. The discovery of Forbes' car still in the driveway, along with her phones and wallet inside the residence, heightened alarm.
Police initially classified Forbes as a missing person but elevated her status to critically missing within 24 hours. This classification indicates that authorities believe she may be in danger or facing life-threatening circumstances.
Aileen Forbes stated that she had a routine FaceTime call with her sister on Saturday morning to plan holiday visits. Concerns arose when Antoinette failed to respond to texts and calls later that day, especially since Aileen had tested positive for COVID-19 and wanted to ensure her sister, who has an underlying health condition, was aware.
Investigators have informed the family that no one, including relatives, is permitted inside the home, which is considered an active crime scene. Aileen Forbes described her sister as a happy, successful woman with a full life, whose primary focus was her 10-year-old son, Nathan, and their dog.
Antoinette Forbes is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police are urging anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.
