After an eight-year endeavor marked by intense disputes, TV presenter Davina McCall has completed the renovation of her five-bedroom home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The project, which began after her 2017 separation from Matthew Robertson, transformed the property into a significantly larger, four-storey residence.

The initial purchase of the £3.4 million house in 2017 was part of McCall's decision to build a new 'forever' home following the breakdown of her marriage. Architects submitted plans in November 2018 to demolish the existing 1930s cottage and replace it with a larger structure, including a basement.

These proposals faced strong objections from neighbors, who raised concerns about the scale of the proposed basement, potential disruption from excavation, noise, dust, and the impact of heavy vehicles on the private road. They also argued that the replacement home was substantially larger than initially suggested by architects and that its positioning would negatively affect the street scene. Despite these objections, planning permission was granted in April 2019.

Subsequent approvals included plans for a separate garden room in March 2021 and the addition of two first-floor balconies last year. The completed home is now a four-storey, seven-bedroom property featuring a basement with a cinema room and entertainment spaces. The ground floor includes three reception and dining areas, and an attached garage. The first floor houses the principal suite with a dressing room and four additional en suite bedrooms, while the second floor contains two more en suite bedrooms, each with dressing rooms.

McCall married celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas in a second wedding ceremony at the home earlier this year. They now reside there with McCall's three children, Holly, Tilly, and Chester, as well as Douglas's two children from a previous relationship. The property served as a sanctuary during challenging times, including McCall's recovery from surgery to remove a benign brain tumor in late 2024 and her subsequent treatment for breast cancer, from which she has since recovered.

Douglas stated that the couple plans to work for another five years before retiring and enjoying their home. They currently divide their time between a flat in London during the week and their Tunbridge Wells residence on weekends. The presenter and Douglas have shared glimpses of their home, including a lavish kitchen with bifold doors leading to a garden and swimming pool, on social media.
