Since the $6.05 billion sale of the Washington Commanders in July 2023, former team owner Dan Snyder has adopted a life of anonymity in London, according to individuals who previously associated with him and others within the NFL. Snyder, who turned 62 in November, relocated to London with his wife Tanya prior to the completion of the team's sale.

The sale followed multiple congressional, state, and NFL investigations into allegations of a toxic workplace culture, sexual harassment, and financial improprieties during his ownership tenure. There is no public indication that Snyder intends to return to professional sports ownership, and he has maintained a low public profile.

"Talk about a guy that’s gone invisible," one former associate of Snyder told Front Office Sports. "He’ll never be back. In London, they… don’t bother him. Just let him be over there."

Sources indicate that communication with Snyder has been significantly curtailed since the controversies emerged. "I don’t think anybody is in touch with him about anything…. I don’t know who he hangs out with. I don’t know who he talks to. Certainly nobody in the NFL is talking to him," a high-ranking official with another NFL team stated. Former staff who worked under Snyder have also noted a lack of awareness about his current activities, with some suggesting the league has "totally moved on from him."

Snyder reportedly spent more than $67 million on a London residence, and his family's yacht, the Lady S, has been observed navigating waters around the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Snyder UK Investments has also reportedly allocated funds to Apollo Global Management for private market investments.

Following the Commanders sale, reports emerged in January 2025 suggesting Snyder's interest in acquiring a stake in a Premier League soccer team. However, no public record confirms such a purchase. A former associate mentioned that Snyder was interested in potential soccer investments shortly after selling the Commanders, but this interest may have waned. "The only thing he’d buy back into would be European soccer," another former associate commented.

Forbes estimates Snyder's net worth at $4.7 billion. Snyder acquired ownership of the team, then known as the Redskins, in 1999 and was associated with numerous controversies during his nearly two-decade tenure.
