Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has publicly addressed his broken engagement to Sarah Jane Ramos for the first time, stating that numerous reports about the split contained "a lot of false narratives."

Prescott, known for valuing his privacy, acknowledged that his public profile as an NFL player led to his personal life becoming subject to public scrutiny. "I don't necessarily think it was public to me," Prescott told reporters, referencing the attention his engagement received. "Once again, I believe what you take in, what you read, what you look up, you're doing that to yourself. There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides. That was very unfortunate. Unfortunate for me, but somebody who's been [dealing with the media] and knows how to [handle] it … And unfortunate for her."

He expressed regret over the situation becoming a topic of public discussion and emphasized the impact on their children. "But it's kind of the life we live in. Yeah, it was an unfortunate situation for obviously everybody. More importantly, the kids. And so for me, it's just about making sure I'm there in every which way for them."

Prescott and Ramos became engaged in October 2024 and were planning an April 2026 wedding in Lake Como, Italy. They have two daughters together: Margaret Jane Rose Prescott, born in February 2024, and Aurora Rayne Prescott, born in May 2025. Prescott's legal first name is Rayne Dakota. The engagement was reportedly called off in March 2026, approximately five weeks before the scheduled ceremony.

A representative for Ramos had previously told People that the split was a mutual decision and that both individuals remained committed to co-parenting their children, describing them as "heartbroken."

However, other reports, including from TMZ, suggested the relationship had been strained for months and reached a breaking point after an argument during a joint bachelor and bachelorette trip to the Bahamas. Prescott did not confirm or deny specific reasons for the breakup or who initiated it.

Prescott stated that his primary focus, beyond his career with the Cowboys, is his children. He shared how their presence has shifted his perspective, making him more child-centered. "I want those girls to say their dad's a champion," he said, reflecting on his motivation to succeed.

His daughters have visited him at training camp, and Prescott cherishes these moments. "I appreciate them getting a chance to, you know, come to my office or, you know, come out on the football field and just hang for a little bit, even if they don't fully grasp it," he explained. "They'll have these memories and stuff like that in the back of their heads."
