Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll displayed visible frustration on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, slamming his fists on a table after a critical red zone interception by Giants safety Jevón Holland effectively ended his team's comeback attempt and secured a 12-7 victory for the Giants. The play occurred on first-and-goal from the Giants' 7-yard line with the Titans trailing.
The interception by Holland sealed the win for the Giants in Daboll's first game back at MetLife Stadium since being fired as the Giants' head coach midway through the 2025 season. The Titans' offense struggled throughout the game, managing only one touchdown late in the fourth quarter, a pass from quarterback Cam Ward to Wan’Dale Robinson with 5:35 remaining. The team had nearly gone the entire first half without a first down.
Daboll had downplayed the significance of facing his former team in the week leading up to the game. "I've faced a lot of former teams before," Daboll told reporters. "It's a one-week season every week, so you've got to put everything you got into it. You've got to get ready for scheme, new coordinators on their end, different players. As simple as it sounds, that's what it is every week in the National Football League."
He also expressed gratitude for his time with the Giants organization. "I have a ton of respect for the people in that organization. Very grateful for the opportunity the Mara family and Tisch family gave me. From top down to the bottom, really good people in that building," Daboll said. "But it's about getting the players ready for a game. I've been on a number of teams that played my former teams before. But the focus is on our players."
Despite Daboll's efforts to remain focused on the present game, the outcome was a frustrating one for the Titans' offense, culminating in the late-game interception that prevented a potential tie.
