A recent sighting in an undisclosed area of Onondaga County, New York, has ignited discussion among Bigfoot researchers and the public alike. A hiker, identified by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) only as KD, captured two photographs of what she described as an "inhuman" figure wading in a pond. The images have led to the creature being dubbed the "Syracuse Figure."

KD, a 25-year-old woman, reported that she was alone at the glacial pond around 1 p.m. on August 10 when she spotted the figure. Initially believing it to be a naked person, her perception changed when the figure turned and looked at her with what she described as an "unnervingly strange" gaze. She left the area shortly after, taking the photographs on her way out.

Investigations by BFRO members have yielded differing opinions. One investigator, Ben C., attempted to recreate KD's photos but found the terrain difficult, describing it as waist-deep in mud and debris. He argued that navigating such conditions would be challenging for a "presumed naked and elderly man." Ben C. estimated the figure's height at approximately 4-feet-9 inches, significantly shorter than an average human male, and pointed to a visible brow ridge as potential evidence of a juvenile Sasquatch.

Another investigator, Matthew Moneymaker, suggested that what appeared to be sagging skin in the photographs could be wet fur. He also referenced recent reports of "mini-bigfoots" sighted in Pennsylvania during mid-August. However, online commentary has largely leaned towards skepticism, with many users suggesting the figure is simply an elderly, overweight, or hairy man skinny dipping. Some commenters speculated that the figure could be a man engaging in activities like "catfish noodling."
