Countryfile presenter and Paralympian Sammi Kinghorn has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Delilah. Kinghorn, 30, announced the news on Instagram, sharing that their baby girl arrived on July 7. She and her husband, Callum Aitken, expressed their joy, with Kinghorn captioning the post: "Hey there Delilah… Callum and I welcomed our gorgeous little girl into the world on the 7th July. We’re both absolutely besotted with her and can’t imagine a time when she wasn’t here!"
The couple, who announced they were expecting in March, shared photos of their newborn, including one of Kinghorn cradling Delilah in a hospital bed and another of Aitken pushing the baby in a car seat. Fans congratulated the couple in the comments section of the post.
Kinghorn, who was paralyzed from the waist down at age 14 following an accident on her family's farm in the Scottish Borders in 2010, reflected on her pregnancy prior to giving birth. She described the experience as "beautiful," noting that it allowed her to "watch my body change and do something it’s supposed to do," a contrast to the many bodily functions impacted by her spinal injury.
In 2010, Kinghorn was crushed by a forklift while helping her father clear snow. The incident resulted in severe spinal cord injuries. After a lengthy hospital stay and rehabilitation, Kinghorn became a world champion wheelchair racer and a double Paralympic medallist. She also secured a presenting role on BBC's Countryfile. She and Aitken tied the knot in January 2025.
