Country music singer Ernest has shared that he is stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his mental health and reconnect with his faith. The "Gettin' Gone" singer, whose full name is Ernest Keith Smith, announced on Instagram that he felt "lost" but was grateful for the support he received.

Ernest, 27, acknowledged that he had spent "too long" relying on his own judgment, stating, "I don’t have many answers at all…. But I do know where it’s starting…. A dialogue with something greater than ME."

He explained that growing up in church and Christian school had led to some burnout, but he is now intentionally working on his relationship with God. "I just know that I have a beautiful life, family and friends that deserve me at my best. I deserve that for me too," he wrote.

The singer had abruptly dropped out of Ella Langley's "The Dandelion Tour" last month to prioritize his well-being. At the time, he shared on social media that the road had been taking a toll on his mental and physical health. He expressed gratitude to Langley for the opportunity and wished her well for the remainder of the tour.

"I want to thank Ella for having me out on tour and wishing her the BEST in Auburn tonight and the rest of the tour," Ernest said. "I look forward to coming back better and stronger. I owe it to myself and those affected by my actions. That starts now. Love y'all."

Ernest and Langley previously collaborated on her song "Loving Life Again," which he co-wrote. Langley has not yet publicly addressed Ernest's absence from the tour.
