Counter-terrorism police have reopened an inquiry into an incident at the home of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, stemming from an alleged failure to pursue a line of inquiry related to an attempted burglary in April 2025. Farage stated that the incident is directly linked to the murder of Ann Widdecombe.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) announced it would independently investigate the conduct of a Counter Terrorism Policing London staff member. This decision followed a referral concerning an allegation that an individual failed to identify and pursue a relevant line of inquiry.
Police previously stated that damage was caused to a door during the April 2025 incident, but nothing was stolen. No arrests were made at the time, and the investigation was closed. However, Counter Terrorism Policing London recently identified a new line of inquiry that had not been pursued initially.
Both CTP London and the Metropolitan Police were involved in the original inquiries. The circumstances connecting the incident at Farage's house to the murder of Ann Widdecombe remain unclear.
