Internet personality Braden Peters, known online as Clavicular, has explained the goals of his "looksmaxxing" movement, a regimen gaining traction among young men, in an appearance on "Hang Out with Sean Hannity." Clavicular, 20, described looksmaxxing as "the most well-rounded form of self-improvement, just almost taking it to its logical conclusion."
The movement championed by the streamer has seen a surge in popularity among Generation Z and Generation Alpha. Clavicular defines the strict health regimen as maximizing one's appearance, incorporating practices such as stimulant use and "bone smashing" – striking facial bones with a hammer to stimulate growth. Medical experts have cautioned against such practices due to the risk of serious injury.
Clavicular stated that looksmaxxing encompasses traditional fitness and bodybuilding alongside a focus on facial aesthetics. He noted that this emphasis on facial appearance has been a missing component in some male self-improvement philosophies, which have historically concentrated more on physique.
Clavicular is widely recognized for his extensive livestreams on Kick, where he is frequently filmed socializing in nightclubs. Viral clips from these outings, often featuring pickup lines aimed at women, have garnered millions of views. He explained that these club environments demonstrate "the very nature of hypergamy and kind of the reasoning behind the whole philosophy of looksmaxxing, why it's important."
He asserted that only a small percentage of individuals in nightlife achieve success with women. "So most people in the clubs stand literally no chance," Clavicular said.
The streamer's interactions, particularly his treatment of women, have drawn controversy. In March, he was arrested on a battery charge in Florida, accused of instigating a fight between two women and sharing the video on social media. Despite these controversies, many in Gen Z and Gen Alpha have adopted his looksmaxxing techniques.
During his discussion with Sean Hannity, Clavicular addressed the intentions behind his content promoting looksmaxxing. "The more content that I do, it kind of displays that and puts an emphasis on, like, you really need to prioritize looking better and starting to look max," he said.
Peters argued that looksmaxxing extends beyond dating success, asserting that an attractive physical appearance improves "every single micro interaction in your life." He contended that physical attractiveness is often a factor in obtaining employment, stating, "If they're not good-looking they're not going to get the job."
