Country rapper Colt Ford suffered a broken shoulder and was rescued through a smashed windshield after his tour bus crashed into a ditch in Germany. Ford, 56, shared an image of the damaged bus on Instagram, showing it in a grassy ravine with its front end heavily impacted.
"One minute you’re headed to Germany for a show and prepping for a single release and the next thing you know your bus is in the ditch and you’re getting pulled through a windshield with a broken shoulder by first responders," Ford wrote.
He added that the crew sustained minor injuries but confirmed everyone was accounted for. The exact cause and location of the crash remain unknown. Ford had been scheduled to perform in central Germany.
Fellow artists offered messages of support, with some referencing Ford's survival of a heart attack in 2024. Meghan Patrick expressed relief that he was alive and offered assistance, while Jake Owen and Tracy Byrd also sent well wishes for a speedy recovery.
The recent incident follows Ford's serious health battle in 2024, when he survived a near-fatal heart attack. He experienced cardiac arrest twice, underwent extensive surgery, and spent eight days in a medically induced coma. At the time, doctors indicated his survival was highly improbable.
Following the heart attack, Ford made significant lifestyle changes, including overhauling his diet and exercise regimen, which led to a weight loss of over 60 pounds. He has spoken about adopting healthier eating habits and increasing his physical activity.
Ford's career began in country rap, and he is known for co-writing Jason Aldean's hit "Dirt Road Anthem." His own successful songs include "Ride Through the Country" and "Workin' on."
He is scheduled to perform in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 19. Prior to his music career, Ford was a professional golfer for approximately a decade.
