Collin Gosselin, son of former reality television stars Kate and Jon Gosselin, has detailed allegations of abuse he claims to have suffered at the hands of his mother, Kate Gosselin, during his childhood. In a recent interview with ABC, the now 22-year-old alleged that his mother confined him to a locked room in their basement, isolated him from his father, and physically abused him.

Collin recounted an incident where his mother allegedly dragged him by his ear, causing his earlobe to swell. He stated that a teacher noticed the injury, leading him to speak with a guidance counselor. According to Collin, this led to his mother becoming unhappy and him being removed from school in the fourth grade.

He further claimed that his mother zip-tied his hands and feet together after he attempted to run away, and subsequently locked him in his basement room. Days before his 12th birthday, Collin alleged that Kate Gosselin had him placed in an institution, where he claims he was medicated and had minimal contact with his family.

Collin also stated that his mother fabricated diagnoses for him, including autism, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He claims an independent psychological evaluation showed he did not have these conditions.

During their time on reality television, Kate Gosselin presented Collin as having behavioral challenges. Collin's memoir, titled "In The Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," reportedly details these experiences. He told Jay Shetty that his earliest memories involved constant filming by camera crews, stating that his entire childhood life felt like a lie.

Kate Gosselin has previously responded to similar allegations on social media, particularly on her TikTok posts. When a fan suggested suing for defamation, she responded that she could not because she is a public figure and the rules are different. She also commented that only parents with mentally ill children could understand her situation.
