Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber were photographed holding hands during a somber outing on a Malibu beach approximately three weeks after the death of their son, Presley Gerber, who was 27.

Presley Gerber died on September 20 from a suspected overdose after experiencing cardiac arrest while residing at a Santa Monica rehabilitation facility. His parents, along with their daughter Kaia Gerber, 25, maintained a low profile during their walk at Zuma Beach.

Crawford and Gerber, who have lived in the Malibu area for decades, were seen with their faces shaded by baseball caps, while Crawford also wore dark sunglasses. Her left hand was clasped by her husband's as they walked along the shore.

The public appearance occurred one day after their close friend, George Clooney, spoke about Presley's death. Clooney, who reportedly considered Presley a "second son," shared his grief at an awards ceremony in London.

"Quite honestly, it's one of the most devastating things that's happened to our family," Clooney told Entertainment Tonight. "And their family is just as you can imagine. It's the worst thing that could ever happen with family."

Sources close to Clooney indicated he was "deeply saddened and sick over this." Other friends, including Amal Clooney, have reportedly been staying with the Gerber family to offer support and assist with arrangements.

Presley Gerber had documented some of his final hours in a video taken at the Resolutions Living sober house the night before he was found deceased. He had checked into the facility just the day prior to his death. In footage obtained by TMZ, Gerber appeared visibly under the influence as he provided a tour of the residence.

Insiders claim that Presley reportedly used drugs on the Saturday afternoon prior to his death and became concerned about losing control. His sober coach contacted the sober living facility, noting Presley was under the influence and seeking admission for him, which was reportedly granted by an admissions officer.

The sober coach had apparently planned to take Presley to a formal rehabilitation facility on the following Monday. However, Gerber was left at Resolutions Living for the weekend. Sources allege that Presley continued to use drugs within the sober home, potentially viewing the weekend as a final opportunity before starting rehab.

Presley was discovered deceased the following morning. Reports suggest the admissions officer who admitted Gerber to the facility has since been terminated. The luxury sober living residence where he stayed featured spacious living quarters, outdoor seating, a movie theater, and a gym, with amenities including chef-prepared meals and 24-hour on-site staff.

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, Presley Gerber's remains were cremated days after his passing. He was cremated at Rose Family Funeral Home, and his occupation was listed as an entrepreneur in mental health. Crawford and Gerber are expected to keep his ashes at their home.

Presley had openly discussed his decade-long struggle with drug addiction and mental health. Sources close to the investigation told TMZ that he was found in a bedroom at the rehab facility, though not on the bed itself. Fentanyl has not been a primary focus of the investigation at this time, pending the Medical Examiner's toxicology report.

Audio from the 911 dispatch call made from the rehab facility indicated "cardiac arrest" followed by "overdose." The call was initially made at 9:35 a.m. on September 20 for cardiac arrest, then upgraded to an overdose three minutes later, and further escalated at 9:40 a.m.

Sources close to Presley told TMZ that a physician had been prescribing him ketamine, a drug he had past issues with, despite its use for addiction not being FDA-approved. Friends reportedly expressed anger over the prescription, given his history.

Earlier in the year, Presley had documented undergoing an "ibogaine flood dose" treatment at a clinic in Mexico, a process intended to help with withdrawal symptoms. His parents and sister had publicly praised his courage in seeking treatment.

Ibogaine, a psychoactive substance derived from an African shrub, is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance in the U.S. but is legal or available by prescription in other countries.

Last November, Presley announced he was taking a break from social media to focus on his mental health. He later began sharing "Mental Health Mondays" videos, detailing his medication for night terrors and panic attacks. He had also faced a driving under the influence arrest in 2019.

His sister, Kaia Gerber, had previously spoken about the significant impact Presley's struggles had on their family, describing the situation as having "leveled everyone." She commended his openness about his difficulties, contrasting it with their parents' traditionally private approach to family matters.
