Christine McGuinness marked London Pride on Saturday with a public call for "more love, and less labels," a message shared as rumors of a romance with boxer Nicola Adams continue to circulate. McGuinness, 38, who recently described herself as a "five-star lesbian," wore a white dress and rainbow heels for the celebration in the capital.
McGuinness posted her message on Instagram, stating, "Open hearts, Open doors. Happy Pride everyone!" Her public appearance and statement come after Nicola Adams shared a cryptic social media post detailing a challenging period and lessons learned about loyalty and support.
Adams' post, shared on TikTok last month, spoke of "the toughest few weeks" and the importance of identifying genuine support systems. "When everything feels like it's falling apart, you quickly learn who genuinely cares," Adams wrote, reflecting on the value of those who offer support without expectation. She also emphasized the strength found in opening up rather than "suffering in silence."
News of a potential connection between McGuinness and Adams emerged in April after they attended The DIVA Awards 2026. Adams' reflective post followed her reported seven-year relationship with Ella Baig.
McGuinness has been increasingly open about her sexuality since her split from husband Paddy in 2022. The couple, who co-parent three children, have navigated their separation publicly. In a recent interview on the LGBTQ+ podcast "It Started With A Kiss," McGuinness discussed her evolving understanding of relationships and her desire for a future partnership.
"I would love to have a wife one day, not like a legalised marriage, but like a blessing, a celebration of love and all of that, I would love to just be saying, 'this is my wife!'" she shared on the podcast. McGuinness also spoke about her preference for maintaining separate aspects of her life, referencing a "double life" that allows for distinct personal and public spheres.
She further elaborated on her views on relationships and sexuality during the podcast, humorously distinguishing herself as a "Five Star Lesbian" in contrast to a "Gold Star Lesbian," the latter referring to someone who has not had prior sexual or romantic experiences with men. McGuinness explained her approach to dating and intimacy, suggesting a preference for new experiences and clear communication about her relationship status and expectations.
"I don't want to bring somebody into my personal life too quick. I like the separate life," McGuinness stated, referencing her family life in the north and her activities in London. She acknowledged that this approach has sometimes led to misunderstandings with partners regarding the progression of relationships and the integration of her children into them.
