Christina Applegate has reportedly been discharged from the hospital and returned home after a nearly four-month stay. The 54-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021, had been hospitalized in Los Angeles since late March.

Sources close to the situation told TMZ that Applegate is doing well as she transitions back to home life. The exact reasons for the extended hospitalization remain unclear, with speculation it could be related to her ongoing MS struggles or other health issues.

Applegate has been open about her challenges with MS, previously sharing that she is largely confined to her bed due to pain. In February, she told People magazine that while her MS symptoms are difficult, she makes an effort to leave her bedroom to take her teenage daughter to school, describing these moments as her "favorite thing to do."

She candidly described her life as "not wrapped up with a bow" and that "people's lives, sorry for lack of a better term, f

k

ing suck sometimes." Applegate has also spoken about the exhaustion that accompanies her illness, noting in an excerpt from her memoir, "You With The Sad Eyes," that she often feels as though she's "been on a three‑day sleepless bender" even after a full night's sleep.

In April, Applegate offered a health update on Instagram, reassuring her followers that she was "getting stronger and better every day." She shared a picture of her memoir and stated she was "taking a moment to focus on her health."

Her representative declined to comment on her hospitalization or medical treatments but acknowledged her "long history of complicated medical conditions" that she has discussed openly in her memoir and on her podcast.

Applegate has previously revealed on her MeSsy podcast, which she co-hosts with fellow MS patient Jamie-Lynn Sigler, that she has been hospitalized upwards of 30 times in the three years since her diagnosis. She detailed undergoing numerous tests and treatments, including CT scans with significant radiation exposure.

In August 2025, she recorded a podcast episode from her hospital bed while being treated for a kidney infection. She had sought admission after feeling unwell following a European family trip, requesting every possible test to understand her symptoms, which included severe pain.

Applegate announced her MS diagnosis in August 2021, stating at the time that it had been a "strange journey" but that she felt supported by others with the condition. She described the road as tough but expressed a positive outlook, acknowledging "the road keeps going."
