Actress Chrissy Metz provided an update on her use of GLP-1 medication for weight loss, detailing her progress and responding to public commentary. Metz, known for her role in "This Is Us," shared a video on Instagram Stories on Monday, flexing her bicep and noting her progress in strength training.
"She's making progress. We like progress. That's my progress report," Metz said in the video, referring to her physical journey. She previously credited strength training when discussing a 100-pound weight loss with the Daily Mail.
In an April 2025 interview, Metz stated that she had not used Ozempic or undergone surgery for weight loss. "I don't even take Tylenol, like, I really am such a weirdo that way," she quipped at the time. She emphasized the importance of destigmatizing weight loss methods while acknowledging that decisions about one's body are personal. "Ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves," she added.
Metz publicly announced her GLP-1 journey on Monday, partnering with Ro, a digital health company that provides GLP-1 medications. She told People that she had previously tried various diets and therapies without success.
"It's so nice not to be obsessing about what I'm going to have every minute, even as I'm still consuming the meal," Metz said. "I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn't eat this or that."
Metz did not specify the exact medication she is taking or when she began the treatment. She also addressed potential criticism from the public, stating that such opinions do not matter.
"They're not in my life," she told the outlet. "They're not in my doctor's notes. They're not in the hereditary issues my family has." Metz, who is in perimenopause, noted that there have been obesity issues within her family, including with her father. She described herself as "a regular old girl who is trying her best."
