Chris Anne Affleck, the mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, died on June 2 at the age of 83. Her death followed a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to reports. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Affleck was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2025 and was initially given six months to live. She was able to witness her grandson Atticus graduate from high school on May 31, an event she had expressed a wish to attend.

Born Christopher Anne Boldt in New York City in December 1942, Affleck was a graduate of Harvard University. She dedicated 35 years to teaching in public schools, retiring in 2008. She was married to Timothy Affleck, with whom she had Ben and Casey, before they divorced when Ben was a preteen.

Chris Affleck is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren. Ben Affleck is the father of Violet, Seraphina, and Sam, while Casey Affleck has two adult children, Indiana and Atticus.

Both Ben and Casey Affleck have previously spoken about their mother's support for their careers. In 2006, Casey Affleck told Boston Magazine that his mother was very supportive. The following year, Ben Affleck credited his mother with helping him get into acting, mentioning that a friend of hers was a casting director, which led him to pursue acting as a pastime.
