A Chinese-Canadian educator and political commentator, dubbed 'China's Nostradamus,' has issued a series of predictions for 2027 that include a potential U.S. civil war, stemming from an escalating conflict in Iran and subsequent domestic instability. Jiang Xueqin, who gained renown for anticipating Donald Trump's 2024 election victory and a U.S.-Iran confrontation during a second Trump term, outlined his latest forecast on a podcast in April 2026.

Jiang's predictions suggest the situation in Iran will devolve into a full-scale war, potentially necessitating a U.S. ground invasion and a prolonged military engagement in the Middle East lasting up to a decade. This prolonged conflict, he posits, could lead the U.S. government to reinstate a national draft, requiring military service for individuals as young as 18.

Escalating Tensions and Economic Fallout

Following the prospect of a draft, Jiang foresees an expansion of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) capabilities in major American cities, with the National Guard potentially being deployed to maintain order in anticipation of widespread economic collapse. He attributes the potential global economic downturn to repeated disruptions of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global trade. Jiang noted that shutdowns of the strait earlier in 2026 already caused significant price hikes for oil, gas, and fertilizer, impacting food prices and other goods. He warned that a further disruption in 2027 could destabilize the world economy, stating that "If America loses this war, it means the collapse of the American economy."

Jiang explained his predictive methodology involves treating nations and leaders as strategic players, analyzing their perceived goals and next moves. He also draws parallels between current events and historical disasters, using patterns of long, drawn-out wars as cautionary indicators. Additionally, he considers the beliefs of influential groups, particularly when religious or political factions anticipate 'end times' prophecies, assuming they may act to fulfill those perceived destinies.

According to Jiang, Donald Trump's motivation is not solely military victory in Iran, but securing a third presidential term in 2028. Jiang claimed that Trump views his mission as saving America and retaining power as paramount to this goal.

The Nature of Predicted Unrest

Jiang's final prediction centers on a U.S. civil war, which he does not envision as a conventional conflict between two organized armies. Instead, he anticipates widespread unrest, including protests, riots, low-level skirmishes, and localized insurgencies. These events, he suggested, would be largely a reaction to an increased presence of ICE and the National Guard in cities across the United States.

Looking further ahead to 2030, Jiang also foresees a broader conflict emerging between 'globalists' and 'nationalists,' potentially escalating in both the United States and Europe.
