Children's entertainer Rachel Accurso, known widely as Ms. Rachel, has publicly voiced support for reparations by sharing a quote from Ta-Nehisi Coates' influential 2014 essay, "The Case for Reparations." The post on Instagram marks the latest in a series of increasingly visible political statements from the online educator.
The quote shared by Accurso states, "Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy. Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole."
Coates' essay argues that American prosperity was "ill-gotten" and that the nation requires a comprehensive national reckoning to address its history, extending beyond financial compensation.
Accurso's recent engagement with political issues includes endorsing several Democratic candidates in primary elections and suggesting that race may have influenced the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells. Former state attorney Dave Aronberg criticized Accurso's comments on the Wells case, telling Fox News Digital that her involvement was "not helping" the investigation and that she was "injecting division."
Prior to her post on reparations, Accurso had also spoken out on foreign policy matters and advocated for the shutdown of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, declaring her political stance.
Accurso and Coates did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
