A child is in critical condition following an incident at a house in Dungannon, where police have launched a murder investigation.

The body of a man was found alongside the injured child, understood to be a girl, at a property on Lisnahull Road around 11:00 BST on Saturday. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed they received a 999 call at 11:08 BST reporting an incident and dispatched multiple crews, including a helicopter and a Hazardous Area Response Team, to the scene.

A woman who sustained non-life-threatening injuries has been released from the hospital. A male arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Robinson of the Police Service of Northern Ireland stated that the cause of the man's death has not yet been formally established and post-mortem examinations will be conducted. He urged the public to avoid speculation and reassured them that there is no ongoing risk and no one else is being sought in connection with the incident. "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those involved," he added.

According to BBC News NI, the man who died was originally from Guinea-Bissau and had resided in Northern Ireland for over two decades.
