A "Kirkiversary" Charlie Kirk look-alike contest was advertised for Sept. 10 at the University of South Carolina, marking the anniversary of the Turning Point USA founder's assassination. The event was promoted via anonymous posts on the social media platform Yik Yak.

An anonymous post on Yik Yak advertised a "Charlie Kirk look-alike contest" to be held on Greene Street outside USC’s Russell House at 7 p.m., offering a $50 prize. The post used the term "Kirkiversary."

Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on Sept. 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. The Yik Yak post, which circulated on social media, did not explicitly state that its purpose was to celebrate Kirk's killing, according to reviews of the post.

The University of South Carolina stated that it had no record of any registered student organization planning such an event and that no university resources would be used to support it. The university encouraged users to contact them to verify claims ahead of posting.

The promotion of the event was amplified by the social media account Libs of TikTok, which characterized the contest as an event organized by students to celebrate Kirk's assassination. The university responded to this post.

Separately, students at Georgetown University allegedly planned a Kirk look-alike contest for the anniversary of his assassination. This event was promoted on Fizz, an anonymous social media platform popular with Georgetown students, and received significant upvotes. The undergraduate population at Georgetown is approximately 6,000, and the initial announcement received over 2,200 upvotes.

It remains unclear who created the anonymous posts or organized the alleged events at either university, or whether those involved are students at the respective institutions.
