A CBS News Chicago reporter and photographer were attacked Monday afternoon near the Adler Planetarium by several men who allegedly shouted racial slurs and damaged their equipment, according to the station and police. The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the 900 block of East Solidarity Drive.

Police stated that multiple unknown male offenders exited a white truck and approached the two journalists. One of the suspects reportedly directed a dog to attack a 54-year-old male victim while yelling slurs. When the dog did not comply, the offender allegedly smashed the victim's camera and the windshield of the news truck. The journalists escaped the incident unharmed.

Following the attack, police pursued a vehicle and arrested multiple individuals in Brighton Park. The investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson for CBS stated, "We are shocked and horrified by this crime, and we are grateful that our journalists are safe."
