Casey Affleck has confirmed the death of his father, Tim Affleck, this year, just two months after the passing of their mother, Christine Affleck. The 51-year-old actor made the announcement during a press conference at the Venice Film Festival for his film "Company."

"It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me," Casey Affleck stated. He added that he wished he could have shown the film to them, believing they would have liked it.

Tim Affleck was born on March 21, 1950. The exact date of his passing has not been publicly disclosed. The family announced the death of Christine Affleck, the matriarch, on July 24, though she had passed away on June 2. She was 81 years old.

Christine Affleck was born in December 1942 in New York City. She graduated from Harvard University and worked as a public school teacher for 35 years before retiring in 2008. According to her obituary, she was diagnosed with a terminal illness in December and her final wish was to see her grandson's high school graduation, which she attended on May 31, just two days before her death.

Christine was described as a staunch advocate for civil rights, having taught literacy classes in Mississippi during Freedom Summer in the 1960s and marched against the Vietnam War. She and ex-husband Timothy Affleck welcomed their sons Ben in 1972 and Casey in 1975. The couple divorced when Ben was 12, and Timothy later moved to California.

The Affleck family includes sons Ben, 53, and Casey, 50, and five grandchildren: Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin, and Sam. Christine's obituary noted her grandchildren as "the animating force of her last two decades."
