Paul Flack, the brother of late television presenter Caroline Flack, has died by suicide. He was 55 years old.
Flack was discovered unresponsive at his home in Norwich on June 21 and died later at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. A provisional post-mortem examination indicated the cause of death as cardiac arrest due to hanging. An inquest into his death was opened on Monday at Norfolk Coroner’s Court.
Paul Flack’s death occurred just three days after his 55th birthday. He leaves behind a partner and two children. Norfolk Police stated that while the death is being treated as unexplained, they do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
His final Instagram post was a tribute to his sister, Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in February 2020 at the age of 40. Caroline Flack lost her role as presenter of the ITV2 show Love Island amid a looming assault trial. She had been accused of assaulting her then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, following an argument at her north London home.
Caroline Flack admitted to hitting Burton with a mobile phone after seeing a message she believed indicated infidelity. Officers arrived at the scene after she became distressed and injured herself. Despite Burton not pressing charges, the Crown Prosecution Service proceeded with the case, leading to Caroline Flack's death.
Paul Flack appeared with his mother, Christine, and sister, Elizabeth, in the 2022 documentary "Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death." In the documentary, Paul spoke about his sister, stating she was the first thing the family thought of upon waking. His mother, Christine, expressed her "biggest regret" was not speaking up more during Caroline's final months.
Caroline Flack rose to prominence as a television presenter, hosting shows such as The X Factor, I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! spinoffs, and Love Island. She also won Strictly Come Dancing, received a BAFTA, and performed in the West End production of Chicago.
