The Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Jacoby Brissett have reached an agreement on a revised contract for the 2026 NFL season, concluding a period of contract dispute.

Brissett, who was set to make a base salary of $4.88 million for 2026, will now earn $15.5 million in base pay. The new deal includes incentives that could bring his total earnings up to $21 million. The quarterback had been seeking a raise as he is expected to be the team's starting quarterback following the release of Kyler Murray.

Brissett did not participate in the Cardinals' spring workouts but reported to training camp on time, which had led to expectations of a resolution. His new contract is not comparable to top-tier starting quarterback salaries but appears to be a mutually agreeable compromise.

The Cardinals' quarterback situation shifted significantly after Murray's departure, with Brissett now atop the depth chart. The team also drafted Carson Beck and signed Gardner Minshew II to provide competition during training camp.

During the 2025 season, Brissett took over starting duties after Murray sustained a foot injury. Reports indicated that Brissett operated the offense more efficiently, benefiting players like tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Brissett is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2026 season. The team has also bolstered its offense through the draft, selecting running back Jeremiyah Love with the third overall pick. While Brissett has been present at training camp, he had not participated in full 11-on-11 practice sessions until the contract agreement.

Despite the new contract, Brissett must still compete for the starting role against Minshew and Beck. However, his established rapport with key offensive players is seen as an advantage.

The Cardinals were among the first NFL teams to report to training camp, marking the official start of the new season. Other teams' veterans are scheduled to arrive later in July.
