A Canadian national accused of assaulting a teenager at the Jersey Shore over the Fourth of July weekend is in federal custody and faces deportation, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, was arrested on July 3 following an alleged incident at Point Pleasant Beach.

DHS stated that Tracey entered the U.S. in 2024 on her passport and subsequently overstayed her visa, making her an undocumented immigrant. The agency referred to her as a "maple leaf menace" in a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, asserting that "this illegal alien who assaulted a teenager has no business being in our country."

Tracey is currently being held at Delaney Hall, an immigrant detention center in Newark, New Jersey. DHS confirmed she is in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody pending removal from the United States.

Video footage circulating from the incident appears to show Tracey approaching a younger woman wearing a "USA 250" tank top and striking her multiple times. Tracey resides in Asbury Park with her husband, Matthew Geroni.
